Boxing Day on MV Privacy

December 26, 2021
The Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race has become an icon of Australia's over the last 75 years. The first race was instigated by Marine Artist Jack Earl, who planned to cruise on a family ketch from Sydney to Hobart on Boxing Day, 1945. Nine yachts took part in the first race.

Today, the fleet has averaged eighty yachts and it has become a world-wide phenomenon that millions tune in to watch. In fact, the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race attracts large public interest and is the most watched annual yachting event in the world. It sits other events on Australia’s packed summer sport schedule including the Melbourne Cup, Australian Open tennis and Boxing Day cricket test. The Rolex Sydney Hobart also provides various family-friendly activities and events for all ages to enjoy.

Sydney Luxury Cruise offers a sublime opportunity to get up close and personal with all the maxi yachts during the start of the race. 1pm is when the boats set off, and this four-hour experience guarantees you a magnificent vantage point you won’t find elsewhere. Our vessels assure the comfort of a private luxury vessel, with capacity for up to thirty guests.

Our Superyacht Captain boasts over 20 years of experience and has extensive knowledge of Sydney Harbour. No questions will go unanswered and no sights will go unseen. From Sydney Harbour Bridge to the Sydney Opera House and beyond, the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race is not only an opportunity to watch the start of a distinguished event but the chance of a lifetime to take in some of Sydney’s most iconic landmarks. We are pleased to offer commentary in English, Mandarin, Korean and German. Complimentary on-board Wi-Fi is also available, meaning you can broadcast the world’s most watched yacht race to loved ones across the world. For your comfort, an on-board toilet is also available.

The cruise usually departs and returns to either King Street Wharf, Barangaroo, the Convention Jetty in Darling Harbour or Campbells Cove in Circular Quay. Alternative pickup and drop-off locations are available upon request. The team at Sydney Luxury Cruise are committed to making your day as seamless and enjoyable as possible. We endeavour to cater for any additional requests that may make the evening more comfortable for guests.

We encourage our guests to bring warm clothes to suit the somewhat unpredictable weather conditions on the Harbour. Although this event falls in the middle of Australia’s warm summer, it can often be slightly colder on the water than on land.

Our Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race cruises can book out quickly and it is recommended to book as soon as possible. Please call +61 431 942 810 to check availability.
